Tiger Love And Hate

Tiger Woods is either loved or hated - it's not a bad thing for the sport. Sports legends should not necessarily have it all their own way. It keeps them grounded.

Those who love him see an athlete who has dominated his sport like Michael Jordan dominated basketball in the 1990’s or the way Lance Armstrong had dominated the Tour de France. Others just like his story of success.

Many golf fans dislike Tiger. Some just prefer rooting for the perpetual underdogs like Phil Mickelson. Others do not want to see him break Jack Nicklaus’ record of eighteen career majors. More don't like his style, translating his intensity and determined character as arrogance.

Before winning the 2005 Masters, Woods was in bad form. His last major win was at the 2002 U.S Open, which meant that he had gone ten majors without a win. It was the worst stage of his career.

Tiger now has ten major titles. He is on course to beat the record easily.

Woods is playing with a lot of confidence right now. It remains to be seen if he can turn that into victories.
